New Around Here? This Page Saves You Some Clicking
There are nearly six hundred articles on this site, which is a lot to wade through. Consider this the quick tour: what the site is, who writes it, and the fastest route to what you came for.
Hey, I'm Dan. I started this site after one too many nights reading guitar reviews that were obviously written from a spec sheet.
You can always tell. Nobody who's actually held the guitar describes it like a dishwasher manual.
So I write the other kind: reviews and guides from someone who plays, gigs, and has returned enough gear to know what regret feels like.
Everything lives in five categories, and the shortcut cards below cover the questions I get asked most. If you'd rather just poke around, the nav up top works fine too.

What acoustic should I buy?
Depends on budget and what you play. My rankings run from first guitars to stage instruments, with honest notes on each.
Best electric for a beginner?
You need less guitar than you think. These are the electrics I'd actually hand to a new player.
Which amp should I get?
Tube, solid-state, or modeling is the first fork in the road. I'll walk you through it without the snobbery.
Best lightweight amps?
My back made me research this one. Amps that gig well without wrecking your spine, tested and ranked.
Easy songs to learn?
Song lists by genre that sound good early on. Motivation beats theory when you're starting out.
I just want to get better
