My Story: A Lackluster Looper Until The TC Electronic Ditto Looper Pedal

When I was just getting started into looper pedals and doing live looping , I originally picked a cheap looper pedal that I cannot even remember the name of. But, what a hard pedal it was to use and a waste of money. I almost gave up looping altogether because I was having such a hard time figuring out how to set songs up. Luckily, a friend of mine told me about it. He even gave me some music theory lessons and we made or own melodies together using one.

CHECK THE LATEST PRICE ON THE DITTO LOOPER

I was very happy with how simple it was to use . All I had to do was hook up the pedal to the guitar’s line and plays through the looping facility of the pedal.

With only one knob to deal with , it’s extremely simple and easy to add chords, build up melodies, and work with the tempo. It’s perfect for someone like me who is just starting out into live looping.

What Does A Guitar Ditto Effects Pedal Do?

The Ditto Looper has very capable looping effects. All you have to do is plug it into an amplifier. then plug the guitar into it and you are ready to go. It features:

5 minutes of looping time. This is quite enough to take in a riff into a track. However, you can also add layers of your own, which will be mixed into the loop.

Unlimited overdubs and undo/redo. You can experiment endlessly with the sound.

True bypass. They call it True Bypass because it does not affect the signal path and sound quality when the pedal is switched off.

Simple controls. You can get started right away with a very small learning curve – just use the pedal to start/stop the loop recording and the single knob to set the volume level of the loop.

Enhance the quality of your music by adding depth to your riffs.

24-bit uncompressed high-quality audio.

Create amazing sounds by looping riffs, overdub, and adding effects.

No need to tap your foot, just sit back and jam.

Capture every loop, riff, track, and verse perfectly.

Choose your level of sound, intensity.

How Does the Ditto Work?

This pedal is interesting because of how much control you have with only one pedal and one knob. You simply turn on the Ditto using the Toggle Switch, and then press the loop recording footswitch to start/stop the looping. The single knob controls the loop recording volume. The volume level may be adjusted in several ways. The maximum volume is limited only by the amplifier’s volume level.

Press the footswitch once to record, press it again to stop the recording and start playing the loop. Then click it a third time and you can play your own overdubs over the previous loop.

Want to clear the loop and restart? Just hold the footswitch down for a few seconds.

The Most Important Features of TC Electronic’s Ditto

In my opinion, the most important feature of this pedal is the intuitiveness of the looper recording system. I recorded a quick note and hear it playing by itself (without any other sound). Just like that, I have recorded a short song. There is no need for me to worry about setting the desired loop length. What’s more, the sound is quite clear. No problems of distortion. The looper recording system of TC Electronic’s Ditto Looper Pedal is easy to learn.

Even you who are just a beginner can start using this looper right away. The looping sound effect provided is very cool.

Who Is The Ditto Good For?

If you are a guitarist that loves to play live, you need to check out this pedal. Live performances are fun and memorable. But having great live sound is essential for these performances. The Ditto Looper allows you to have the best possible sound for your live shows.

You can also perform numerous creative experiments using this looper pedal. This pedal will empower you to enhance your music. You no longer have to rely on the music director to get the sound you want. With this pedal, you can get exactly what you want for live sound. It is extremely versatile, so you can experiment with different types of music.

The Ditto Looper Pedal is for advanced musicians and is well suited for most purposes . It’s a cool piece of gear and will help you take your music up a notch!

How Does The Ditto Pedal Add Depth To The Music?

TC Electronic are specialists in power, tone and durability, so it’s a must have for every guitarist. The Ditto Looper pedal from TC Electronic is one pedal that can do it all. Apart from the sounds you can create, the TC Electronic Ditto Looper pedal allows you to capture every little moment on stage . You can loop your riff, or time your guitar part perfectly.

Cons Of This Pedal

There are some disadvantages but they are minor compared to its huge benefits. First, it may seem a bit too simple for some of you. However, that’s the point: it does a simple job well, so there’s no need to overcomplicate things.

Another slight disadvantage is the 5 minutes of loop time. Do you need more? Maybe, but it is more than sufficient for most gigs, especially if you are playing rhythm guitar.

Conclusion

This cool little pedal is a must have for every guitar player. The Ditto Looper pedal from TC Electronic allows you unlimited creativity, and allows you to experiment with new sounds. If you’re interested in getting one, you can buy it online. It is loaded with an impressive number of useful features, including dedicated footswitches to control the store, undo/redo, loop indicator and half time functions.

It can store up to 13 hours of stereo recording audio at a time and lets you play along with your loops in real time and even has 57 preset rhythms with excellent sound quality to play around with. This Boss Loop Pedal boasts a dedicated footswitch for undo/redo, as well as half-time and reverse playback functions.

The RC-500 is a very good choice for guitarists who want to create complex loops that require a lot of tweaking. All of the controls are easy to use, and the undo/redo feature will come in handy if you end up making a mistake. It is a little on the expensive side, but you do get what you pay for.

It’s not as easy to use as other loopers, but it does have some great features that make it worth checking out.

You can also connect external footswitches as well.

It has all of the same basic features, but with a pared down set of options.

The downside to this is that you have less control over your loops. Also, there is no dedicated footswitch for undo/redo, although the same effect can be achieved using the stop and start buttons.

It has three stereo inputs tracks that can be looped, as well as a reverse button. The loop footswitch controls the playback from the left or right stereo channels and reverse playback, while the stop and start buttons control the pause and play functions and loop indicator.

The RC-300 delivers a full stereo sound that is similar to owning an entire studio in your pocket.

While it has all of the same basic functions as the RC-300, this Boss Loop Pedal comes with a much, much smaller price tag. It is very light on features and controls and doesn’t have a dedicated footswitch, meaning that you are not able to undo or redo your loops.

It has two stereo tracks that can be looped, as well as a half-time feature and reverse playback. Although it does lack some features, its relatively small price tag makes it a solid choice for beginners.

It has an LCD screen that has a few basic settings and functions, but there are no other controls, making it very easy to use.

All this makes the Boss RC-5 Loop Station a great choice for beginners who want to get their feet wet before investing in more advanced looper pedals with good stereo recording time.

A guide for beginners and advanced users alike, this article will help you understand the basics of loop pedals and how they work. This is an in-depth look at what makes a good one and which ones are worth your money.

The first time I saw one of these pedals in action was KT Tunstall using one during a performance of Black Horse & The Cherry Tree. KT Tunstall makes use of one of these pedals amazingly!

What Is A Pedal Looping?

It is basically a guitar pedal that records and loops audio. It’s used to create the perfect backing track for your song, or simply as an alternative to using a drum machine.

There are many different types of guitar loop station on the market today, but here we will be focusing on one main category:

Looping Guitar Effects – These are usually found in the form of stomp boxes, and allow you to record your own backing tracks. They are great if you want to play along with a backing track while recording your own vocals and instruments.

Types Of Features That Loopers May Have

There are a number of different guitar looper effects pedals:

Looper Pedal With Drum Kits – these have built in drum sounds or preset rhythms allowing you to create a drum track on the fly.

Stereo Inputs – includes stereo tracks in and stereo output.

Looper Pedal With Memory Storage Banks – these options allow you to save multiple loops and play them back as needed.

Digital – these have digital output.

Multi Track, Dual Or Multiple Line Looping Pedal – these pedals allow you to record multiple loops and mix them together.

Looper Pedals With Serial Modes – these pedals include serial looping.

Looper Pedal With Speed Knob Control – gives you the ability to adjust tempos of your loops.

Looper Pedal With Backward Option – these pedals can play the loops backwards.

How Much Do They Cost?

The average price is $100-$200. If you want to save money, consider buying used. However, there are also some good choice under $100.

Which Looper Pedal? How To Choose

Which looper pedal should I get? There are so many choices out there. What makes one better than another?

The best looper pedals will allow you to play chords, loops, arpeggios, and single notes all at once. They’ll also give you the option to record your performance, which means you can save it and listen back later. Add an expression pedal for even more options.

If you’re looking for something simple then the best choice may be a looper pedal with just drums. However, if you plan on recording vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitars, basses, pianos, etc., then you’ll need more features.

Some people prefer to buy their first one from a music store, however we recommend that you do some research online. The internet has plenty of reviews and videos showing you exactly what each looper pedal does. You can even compare prices between stores by visiting sites like Amazon.com.

My best advice would be if you are new to looper pedals, start off with a basic model. Once you feel comfortable with loops, move up to a more complex looper pedal that has additional features such as multi-track recording, backup memory banks, speed control,

Should I Get Stereo?

Most loopers come with mono jacks. Unless you really need stereo sound, we wouldn’t recommend getting a stereo looper pedal.

What Are Some Common Uses For A Looper Pedal?

Make backing tracks for yourself or others. This allows you to practice playing over a song without having to spend hours learning the entire piece.

Performing live. It’s very handy for creating backing tracks for yourself. As long as you have a good mic set up, you can record yourself singing along to your favorite songs.

You can record yourself playing guitar and add other instruments into the mix. All you need to do is plug your guitar directly into it and turn on the recorder.

Create drum beats using only your hands. Simply place your hand on top of it and hit the keys on the keyboard.

Live Looping Pedal Sound

How often do you hear someone say that they want to play music live, but don’t know where to start? If you’re looking for a way to get started, then you might be interested in learning how to create a live loop sound.

Some say you can sound like an entire band!

The sound of a looping pedal can vary depending on the type of pedal that you’re using.

There are two main ways to create a live loop:

By overdubbing audio onto existing material. In this case, you’ll need to find a microphone that works well with your instrument.

By making “loops” of sounds. In this case, all you need is a microphone.

In both cases, you’ll want to make sure that you’ve got a good quality microphone.

When you’re ready to perform, simply turn on your pedal and begin playing. While you’re playing, try to keep your volume level down so that you’re not drowning out other musicians.

When you’re done playing, turn off the pedal and take care of any business before leaving the stage.

For many people, trying to learn how to play live is easier said than done. Fortunately, there are lots of resources available to help you get started.

Here are some places where you can find information about how to play live:

YouTube – YouTube is full of helpful tutorials that will teach you how to play live.

It also only has one knob to worry about which just adjusts the volume of the loop so that you can dial in the right volume to play along with the loop.

Conclusion

These pedals are fun and versatile tools that allow you to add loops of various lengths to your songs. Many people use them as a way to practice songwriting or improvising.

Using one requires a bit more attention than using a traditional metronome. However, it’s worth investing in a good quality pedal if you really enjoy creating loops.

What is the difference between a loop pedal and Ableton Live? Are they both good or bad?

Ableton Live is a music production software application developed by Ableton AG. It was released in 1999 and has become one of the most widely used DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) applications. Ableton Live is a complete audio recording, editing, mixing, mastering, and publishing tool.

Loop pedals are devices that allow musicians to record their performances into loops. They are also known as step sequencers because they let you play through a series of prerecorded notes. These devices are useful for creating drum patterns, bass lines, melodies, etc.

What Is The Main Difference?

The main difference between Ableton Live and a loop pedal is that Ableton Live lets you create your own songs whereas a loop pedal only allows you to play back what you play live. In addition, Ableton Live is more powerful than a loop pedal because it can be used to edit and manipulate sounds.

In other words, if you want to make a song with Ableton Live, then you have to use all its features. However, if you just want to play a song without any additional effects, then a loop pedal will do the job perfectly.

Creating A Loop Using A Loop Pedal

The first thing you need to do when using a loop pedal is set up your track. This means setting the tempo, key, and other parameters. Once this is done, you can start playing. The next step is to create a new loop. To do this, press the “record” button on your loop pedal. You will then hear a beep sound. Pressing the “play” button will stop the beeping and start recording your performance.

To end the recording, press the “stop” button. Now, you have created a new loop. If you want to edit it, simply change its length or speed.

Creating a Loop Using Ableton Live

Creating live loops using Ableton Live is a great way to create music. I would recommend watching this video that goes through the process:

Pros & Cons Of Using A Looper Pedal For Creating Loops

Pros

You can make loops with your foot

It’s easy to use

It’s cheap

Cons

Your feet get tired after awhile

The pedal doesn’t work well for creating long, smooth loops

Pros & Cons Of Using A Ableton Live For Creating Loops

Pros

Ableton Live is easy to use.

Ableton live allows you to make music with your computer.

Cons

Ableton’s interface is hard to understand for beginners.

Conclusion

If you don’t know how to create a loop, then using a loop pedal is probably easier. But if you’re looking for something more advanced, then Ableton Live might be better.

A loop pedal is a piece of music equipment that allows the player to record a section (or “loop”) of music and then play back that recorded section over and over again or to layer multiple recorded loops on top of each other. The idea is that you can play a series of loops in sequence, giving the player an infinite number variations in rhythms, patterns, and songs. Every top loop pedal has different sounds, effects, features, and controls as well as different prices.

What Does A Guitar Loop Pedal Do?

Loop pedals are able to record a certain section of music and then play that segment of music over and over again. This allows the player to create complex sounds or jam with other musicians simultaneously without using dozens of different guitars and amplifiers. One guitar, one amp, and one loop pedal equals infinite possibilities for the guitarist.

One excellent example that I like is the TC Electronics Ditto Looper loop station guitar pedals for electric and acoustic guitars.

How Does A Looper Pedal Work?

Loop pedals work by recording the sound that enters the guitar and sending it to an amplifier and speaker. This recorded sound is then played back through the speaker while a different sound from either another guitar, a microphone, or other instruments are played simultaneously.

The loop pedal has these three main controls:

The Record Switch – The red button on the top of the pedal is used to tell the loop pedal that you want to record your first “loop”. You will have to press down the Record button, and release it again before you peak the guitar’s sound and start playing over a recorded loop.

The Switch – On the back side of the pedal is a position switch that allows you to choose whether you want the loop to be played from a different instrument or if you want the resulting sound to be sent to your amplifier.

The Level Control – The level control allows you to tweak your recorded sound over time by turning up and down on this knob.

The loop pedals have a basic setup with the amp, guitar and pedal in a small box that can be placed on a set of shelves or under your amp (there are also rackmount versions available).

There is no way to tell where you are playing as far as song structure is concerned. Every time you hit “record” another section of the song will be played one time, and you may get different loops from using different effects.

Should You Get A Sequencer Or A Loop Pedal?

A sequencer is an electronic device that records musical performances in a more developed way. The recorded sound can be changed over time using special software instead of rewinding and replaying a recording. A sequencer can also be used to make beats and rhythms, allowing you to make music on your own without using a drummer. These devices are generally less expensive than loop pedals and have many more options like being able to put in markers where you start playing, stop playing, or change the song structures.

A loop pedal makes it easier for you to play music with other people, as you don’t have to switch between guitars and get your timing right when playing with others. It also gives the guitarist a chance to become more creative at home or in a studio without needing someone else’s help. With a sequencer you will be able to bypass the need for a drummer, giving you more time to record tracks that include sounds from multiple instruments like bass drums and cymbals (you will need a MIDI keyboard to perform this way).

The sequencer can help you learn to produce and arrange musical productions on your own without needing a team of other professionals to do it for you. Loop pedals are good for home recording and are more affordable than sequencers.

No one can deny the coolness (and usefulness) of a looper pedal. The ability to create a loop and then overdub more on top of it is immensely useful for songwriters, guitarists, vocalists, and many others. Plugging in a looper pedal isn’t that difficult if you know what you’re doing. Here are some tips for setting up your looper pedal in your pedalboard.

How To Connect A Loop Pedal To An Amp

If you want to use a looper pedal with your guitar or bass, you’ll need to connect it between the output of your amp and the input of your guitar or bass. Connections are very similar across guitars and basses, so I’m going to focus on sound amplifier here. The easiest way to do this, if you’re playing electric, is through a 1/4″ jack.

This process is very simple. First, plug your guitar amps into the output of your looper pedal. Then plug the output of your looper into the input on your guitar or bass. You may also want to connect patch cables from your effects loop (if you have one) to the “return” jack, but that’s okay if you don’t have one.

What Cord Do You Need With A Looper Pedal?

If you’re using a 1/4″ cord, then you’ll need a regular guitar cable with a 1/4″ male end and a 1/4″ female end. If you have looper guitar pedals that doesn’t require power, then you can use any length cable. If your loop pedal does require power, then you’ll need a special looper pedal cable (this may also be called an instrument cable).

How To Plug Aux Into Guitar Loop Pedal

To plug an aux cord into a loop pedal, first make sure the end of your newly purchased aux cable (or whatever type you’re using) is plugged into the “line out” jack. Then attach it to your guitar or bass. You should be able to connect the other end into one of your amp’s input jacks. You can also just set up a direct connection between your aux cable and a line input on your amp with a 1/4” male/male cable.

Ed Sheeran is the biggest superstar of our generation. Known for his unusual musical style with lyrics that are poetic, emotional, and relatable to many people. He has won countless awards, including 2 Grammy Awards which are the highest honors in American music in 2013 and 2017. His most recent album ÷ topped over 50 million copies worldwide, making it his most successful album yet. He is widely considered to be one of the best singers alive today and one of the greatest musicians in history at such a young age.

And he has been known to use looping pedals quite well!

What Brand Of Loop Pedal Does Ed Sheeran Use?

Check out this demo video first:

There actually isn’t really a specific brand that he used because he has a custom one that he calls Chewie 2. This loop pedal was designed by his guitar tech, Trevor Dawkins. It’s based on a Boss RC-20 Loop Station.

However, before Chewie 2 – it seems like he preferred Boss looper pedals like the Boss RC300 and the Boss RC-30.

How Does Ed Sheeran Use A Loop Pedal?

Ed Sheeran uses loop pedals to create parts or sequences in songs using the live performance looper pedal, then his guitar is used as the main source for other instruments.

For example, in his song “Shape of You”, there is a very catchy guitar riff that is played over and over again. He uses his loop pedal to capture this part and layer it on top of himself.

It’s a very simple process – he sets the loop pedal up to record and then records the guitar riff a few times, then he plays it back. He usually then adds another layer of his voice and instruments, like piano. And voila! – you have his magical song, “Shape of You” that everyone loves.

For Ed Sheeran, loop pedals are like magic. He always manages to create the most unique sounds and produce the best music. The magic of loop pedals is what really make his music stand out in our generation of music and will be around for generations to come.

“Thinking Out Loud” was the first song that Ed Sheeran ever wrote entirely on a loop pedal. The entire song, including the chords and melody, was recorded and created within an hour.

Ed Sheeran has said this about his songwriting and loop pedals in a previous interview:

“I think the reason why it worked for me was because I was writing a lot, so I had to have another way of recording.” He says. “I couldn’t physically write any more songs on paper because I was just on tour.”

And within that hour, Ed wrote probably one of the most popular songs of 2014 – Thinking Out Loud.

With the release of the TC Electronic Ditto Looper, many people are experimenting with this pedal and have many questions. One question that keeps coming up is about how to use the Ditto Looper with another pedal. This post will address this question and give examples of how to do it.

How Do You Use A Ditto TC Electronic Looper Pedal?

The TC Electronics Ditto Looper is a true-bypass looper pedal. It has one input for the footswitch (or other true bypass device) and one output, which can be plugged into a mixing or recording device.

The Ditto Looper works by recording different loops to different channels on the same track (or separate tracks on the same mixer), and then combining these loops using various techniques and algorithms which are not the focus of this post.

The Ditto Looper has a number of features for creating loops:

In the pedal, turn on the Input/Output Switches in order to enter record

Turn on the Looper On/Off Switch to enter record mode – The Input/Output Switches switch to display input and output source, but they remain on when you have other pedals plugged into the inputs and outputs. This allows you to get an idea of where your loop is coming from.

Turn the Loop On/Off Switch to turn on the Looper, which will start recording loops to a channel on your DAW. The Loop On/Off Switch will also start recording in parallel with other pedals plugged into the Looper.

Turn on the Record from Channel Footswitch (or other true bypass device), and then use it as a stop button during recording, or as an activation footswitch (meaning you can play songs live while you are recording loops).

Turn on the Record from Footswitch Switch to start recording the loops to a second channel in your DAW. You can plug another pedal into the side A of the Loop Out/Inputs 2 and it will start recording to this channel.

How To Use The Ditto Looper With Another Pedal

If you want to use another pedal with the Ditto in parallel, the simplest way to do it is simply to plug the Input/Output Switches into one of the channels on your pedalboard, and then plug your other pedal into one of the Inputs or Outputs.

You can either choose which loop is active, or use two different recording channels on your DAW, one for each pedal.

If you want to use two different pedals (or effect pedals in series) with the Ditto Looper pedal setup, there are a couple of options for connecting it:

If you want to use two different pedals, such as the regular Ditto Looper and a Boss BBD delay pedal, simply plug an Input/Output cable into your first pedal (the Boss BBD), and then plug in your second pedal (the regular Ditto Looper) into the second input on the Input/Output cables.

If you want to use a pedal that only has one Input and one Output, but has a true bypass switch, then you can use an input/output splitter cable. This is a Y cable with an input and two outputs.

Plug the input of the splitter into your pedal, and then plug the left output into your first pedal (the Boss BBD), and plug the right output into your second pedal (the regular Ditto Looper). You can then use the input/output splitter to route the signal from one pedal (your Boss BBD pedal) to both pedals plugged into the inputs of your Ditto Looper.

Note 1: If you want to use a pedal that only has a single Input, but you don’t want to use an input/output splitter, then you can just plug that pedal into the loop output on your Ditto Looper. This will route the signal from that single, Input pedal into both the loop input and the recording loop output of your Ditto Looper.

Note 2: If you want to use two pedals in series, you can simply take a “daisy chaining” cable and connect it between the normal input of one pedal to the normal input on another pedal, and plug a 1/4″ cable (or any other cables with plugs on either end) between the outputs of one pedal to the inputs of another.

The article will go through different ways of putting a loop pedal in the signal chain and how it can be done as well as what each method provides. The article will also mention the pro’s and cons of each method for these guitar effects pedals as well. I recommend reading this for anyone who is looking to put a loop pedal in their chain when setting up their pedal boards.

Pedal Order Options For Looper Pedals

How to chain your guitar effects with a looper:

The first way of putting a loop pedal is to put it directly in the signal path chain so it’s “which ever effects you want before this effect then this effect then which ever effects you want after this effect.” This is the least preferred way because if you decide to change something about your rig or bypass the loop pedal for some reason then this method makes it really hard to troubleshoot.

The second way of putting a loop pedal is to set up a separate effects loop for the loop pedal, almost like it has it’s own effects chain. There are multiple ways to do this but I will go over two in particular that I’ve used with my loop pedals. The way I currently use is to create a new effects chain, set the toggle switch to the highest position and then connect it to the loop pedal with the other end going into my effects send. This has several advantages over the first method as you will have easy access to what’s going on with your loop pedal so you can troubleshoot it if anything doesn’t sound right. Another big advantage is that this method keeps your regular chain clean while still allowing you to put an effect pedal into your chain for a specific purpose. I like to put my delay in reverb in the effects loop too.

The third way that I’ve seen is to create a dedicated effects loop for the loop pedal as well as the regular effects loop. I don’t recommend this method because it’s very restricting especially when it comes to setting up your rig. It also seems like the pedal does not fit ideally in your chain.

Conclusion

I would recommend taking a look at these best live looper pedal options.

So the conclusion of this article is that the best way to put in a loop pedal in your chain is to create a new effects chain for it and then connect it to your effects loop with the other end going back into your normal chain. Hope you guys enjoyed reading this article and I will try to come out with new articles more often if people like the content.

A loop pedal is a piece of hardware that allows the guitarist or bassist to have a variable amount of time before their notes repeat. In other words, it’s basically a playing pattern where next notes are made up of previous notes played in different positions and at different tempos.

If you’re a guitarist and you’ve ever wanted to create your own songs, loops, or patterns that would make the music sound more complete, then the loop pedal is for you.

What Do Looper Pedals Do?

Loop pedals work by recording the guitar or bass tones that you play right into a small computer chip, and saving that recorded tone in the chip. The only difference between having a loop pedal and not having one is the difference between being able to create your own songs from scratch, or just being able to play music an ordinary way.

Looper pedals are great for creating patterns for your guitar and bass players to repeat over and over again. It also allows you to create harmonies that would usually take hours to achieve.
